Unlike other creatures of the kaleidoscopic realms, slimes aren't born from eggs. When following what seems to be a shooting star to its resting place, one can often find what appears to be shards of prisms are found, blinking and covered in some sort of... space..goo? When caring for these shards they seem to go from a solid to a gelatinous form, sealing in the crystalline part of their bodies until it has fully melted away into their adolescent gooey form.  Once they reach this state they rest, observing their surroundings and making friends, and growing in size until they decide upon what their final form will be. Sometimes they choose to focus on color or shape, mimicking their favorite objects or patterns within their gooey form. Others choose to focus more on shape, mimicking other creatures or objects they like. In rare cases, they become never-before-seen creatures, perhaps mimicking a reflected, distant memory of a faraway world...
